The Best Jamaican Food ever 😘😘😘
Purchased aloo pies - Where’s the potato? The roti is dry and tasteless. Wasted $$$ - you need to do better especially when your customers are Trinis.
Recently moved into the Historical Walter Reed grounds. This shop is just down the street. Met " The Boss " Ted. Portions are healthy, took me two days to down a Goat Roti, Yum yum!! Prices are competitive $$. Food is really flavorful.
Cost is high food good call first if I were you
I've been to many roti shops and this one would have me coming back. Roti nice...
They need to do something about this restaurant. It's very disorganized. I bought a double and paid $4.the man said $4 with tax but he never printed a receipt. I paid cash.
This place gets NO STARS, but I had to choose one to post my review! Went here recently and the stewed pumpkin tasted like it was seasoned with white sugar. My father purchased the chicken roti and it had his stomach running for 2 days. Don't waste your time, the food was disgusting and expensive.
Teddy's smells like grandma's cooking when you walk through the door. I ordered Buss Up Shut with curry chicken, Dal Purie roti with curry chicken, 2 beef patties, ginger pineapple drink, and passion fruit drink. Everything smells wonderful and tasted delicious. Yes I look forward to ordering here again.
This place is good! Affordable prices, big dishes and the staff are always kind.
Yes Ma'am or Sir Teddy's Roti is so awesome. I purchased the Goat Roti it was divine and melting in my mouth. Sorry I have no pictures.
The price was a little steep; but the food was plentiful. Place a little dates, some fresh paint and nice minimal decor would be welcoming. The food was good and very filling. Would return and recommend.
Was walking past as I'm new to the neighborhood. Moved from NY got excited when I saw the roti shop sign and even more when I saw the trini sign inside. This was the worse chicken roti I have had in my life. Chicken was very dry the wrap looked like it was three days old and thrown in the microwave and tasted like it. To top it off a chicken roti and sorrel cost me 22 dollars. The sorrel was just as bad. Don't bother find another place to try. I should have known not to have purchased after I asked the lady if everything was ready now and she said yes. Then after I paid she said it will be like 10 minutes. I threw the entire dish in the garbage as you can see from my pictures.
They serve large dishes and for convenient rates. super nice staff. Will visit again.
The tamarind balls were the truth. Loved them. Will be back for more.
I use to frequent Teddy's years ago when I lived nearby, so when I was recently in the area I was excited to stop by to get a veggie buss up, since it's so hard to find good Caribbean food where I am now living. I was a little turned off by the cost ($15), but I moved forward anyway. Everything looked and smelled good, but when I went to scoop up my channa, I saw a piece of a roach. My stomach immediately turned. I am so disappointed. I was too disgusted to take a picture and I'm not digging in the trash now to do so. This place needs to be inspected pronto!
Great Trini food in the DC area. Pricy but worth every penny.
I just love their food. I always get awesome service there. The place is neat and the cashiers are always very nice. Will come back again.
The food is good. I recommend the cod and goat roti. Orders take awhile. The drinks are kinda gross (too sweet). Got takeout. We paid for pies that we didn't receive, but we were dumb enough to not check our order before we left.
Awesome Caribbean food. The boneless chicken & vegetable roti is a must. Include pepper with your order 😉
Anytime you order dhalpuri skins/ roti and it tastes like hard doughy bread! Not even a nice roti but you call yourself a roti shop. Money wasted!
Some of the best islander food in the DC area. The peanut punch and ginger pineapple punch are both amazing.
HOW CAN YOU NAME YOUR RESTAURANT TEDDY'S ROTI BUT DON'T HAVE THE BEST ROTI IN TOWN??? I believe these people buy their Roti from the local market and put it in their shop it's not fresh!!! I use to go to this Caribbean local market and buy the frozen Roti and warm it. Funny enough, it tastes just like the Roti at Teddy's Roti shop. Also, I ordered goat meat and rice and peas. Didn't taste good at all. It wasn't fresh it tasted like they got cooked meat from the freezer and warmed it with water and curry powder. The rice and peas had a weird taste. To round everything up, the food was OVERPRICED!!! At first, I wanted to go to this other carribean spot their food is good and prices are very reasonable usually pay $8-12 for an entree but I thought because Teddy's prices were expensive that the food would probably be better . NOT EVEN!! Come on y'all plz do better!
Had the roti curry wrap it was soooooooo good!!!
Home away from home... Trini flavor..
My girlfriend and I have been to this carry-out many times. I love the Jerk chicken roti and the boneless curry chicken roti. The customer service is not very good, however the food is decent. The beverages are ok, they are very sweet. I have tried the Peanut Punch, Sorrel and Mauby.
Great spot for good food
Very good portions are huge and tasty
Very rude! I had to wait until the man in front got off a personal call for my order to be taken. I was not greeted, just what do I want. When asked to see the size of the bake for the $13.00 bake and saltfish. I was told I can leave if I don’t want it. Will never return!
I want for a Roti chicken pumpkin the potatoes and chick pea is free . It cost me $21.00.Refuse to pay for it got the cowheel soup was the worst I ever had. Will not be going back food to expensive and tasteless. As a local guide I'm begging you not to return.
The people here are nice and the food is yummy
my favorite spot in dc, to get doubles. they are perfect, theybalso have excellent drinks. sorrel nd irish moss. they never fail me, just far from my home
The food was disappointing. I ordered curry goat and the meat was tough and salty. The cabbage and rice and beans were OK. For 18.50 I expected better. I will never go there again.
Expensive compared to other trini/Caribbean carry outs in the area . Been here a couple of years ago and the food was great. This time it was just good. The young lady behind the counter was very helpful and friendly .
Takeout during Covid-19: Oxtail w/peas & rice, Buss’up Goat and Chicken, Beef Dhal Pourie, Polourie. Overall assessment: Too much salt. Nothing had flavor or real seasoning, all you could taste was the salt in everything. The skin tasted like biscuit dough and the rice had zero taste. There were no highlights from this meal. Large portions but quantity doesn't mean quality. Tried to eat it but had to throw most of it in the garbage. $90 wasted.
Such a delicious shop! The staff is extremely friendly, very courteous, and when you walk in, it immediately smells amazing. They have a good sized menu, and everything is fantastic. The cashier saw that I had picked a Mauby drink that was frozen, she offered me a fresh one and did it with a smile. I’ve spent time in Trinidad and Jamaica, this food was spot on. I’ll definitely be returning.
100% legit rotis. Same as my trinnie step mother's, same as throughout the Caribbean. Quick service, very satisfying, great value
They offer an awesome range of fresh food. I love eating here. Employees are always very friendly, pricing is convenient and the spot is always well organised.
Reasonable prices for best Trinidadian foods around..Very local, and they have a continuing positive impression on my vegan diet. Has been a constant favorite of mine and for all my visiting friends.
I had an amazing Shrimp and veggie Roti from there and plan to go back.
Small place but good food, great for carryout
This place offers extraordinary service and tasty meals. The best spot in the city. The food and drinks arrived rapidly and the prices are fair. I recommend this place.
Great Goat Roti. Ask for the spicy sauce, extra 50 cents. Pumpkin and Chicken Soup were good too. Tried the Peanut Punch fresh juice. It was a little too sweet but lots of flavor.
Simply delicious home cooking ...as authentic as you can get for a special taste of the islands from their pots to your taste buds...please have a overstuffed roti w Xtra potatoes and curry chicken....yum yum yum
Been here a few times and would say the food was plentiful like others stated but the quality just wasn't there. Because there is no other immediate options I guess it works but it is not a good representation of trini roti and doubles.
Expensive! Little food for the price. Especially if you order anything with shrimp inside.
My go to is the saltfish bake, and double both with tamarind sauce. This food is so bomb💣 every time, a nice delectable treat every now n then. The cashier Nina, is so sweet and funny...she has my bf and I laughing every time.😁 The price can get hefty 💵depending on what you order, but if you love Caribbean food that has a homcooked taste....it is worth it!😋☺
Goat Curry and pumpkin we're delicious
I was visiting from Nashville .. pulled up this Teddy's resturant on google.. first off l am Trinidadian.. so l know my food...The staff member was not friendly at all..l ordered a doubles.. when l got to my car .. took one bite of the doubles ..it was like rubber..the chana had no taste.. l was very disappointed and asked' for my money back... really bad experience..maybe you can fool the American customers.. but certainly not a Trini with their food.
